The race for the 2011 Formula One World Championship continues as we speed into the Hungaroring in Mogyorod, 20km northeast of the beautiful and historic city of Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The track itself is situated in a valley and surrounded by beautiful hillside, meaning it isn't difficult to find a good vantage point as a spectator. The Hungarian Grand Prix has much significance historically, in 1986 it became the first Formula One race to take place behind the Iron Curtain. A major coup at the time for Bernie Ecclestone. Until 2006 it also had the unusual boast of being the only current Grand Prix venue to have never experienced a wet race. Despite this fact, summer rain isn't uncommon amidst the stifling, central European summer heat, so pack an umbrella just in case. Another notable event in 2006 saw Nigel Mansell's 17 year old record of winning from 12th broken, when British driver Jensen Button powered home from 14th on the grid.
At last year's event it was proudly announced that Hungary would continue to host a Formula One race until at least 2016.
